This was our first attempt at
holding a "How to build model boat show" at the Seaway
Terminal in Port Huron. We wanted to get the modelers
together, share idea's and put on some "How to
demonstrations". We also invited anyone interested in
learning about our hobby to join us and see what it's
all about. All in all it went pretty well. Only problem
we had was trying to keep warm, had no heat in the
building, Just would have taken to long to heat a space
that size. Never the less we all stuck it out with some
hot coffee.
That morning on the St.
Clair River was a chilly foggy one, making for a
beautiful scene. An Algoma tanker passed by on it's way
to a Sarnia refinery. The Bramble docked at the Terminal
looked like she was just itching to stretch her lags in
the icy waters.
We
unpacked our projects an setup for the show, with
modelers trickling in. Scott Tomlinson and Jeff Churill
got things started with Research and Starting your
project. Where to find what you need, and research a
project of your own. Next we went over Hull
Construction. Norm Hart started with his Plank on
Frame with Ed Cook following the Bread and Butter
technique. Mike Ferguson and Jeff Churill went over
the Foam on Frame technique, with Jeff G going over his
Star Line Ferry built by Alan Hinchmen. Mike Ferguson
went over building hulls with Styrene. Lastly we went
over Radio / Drive Systems, headed up by Scott
Tomlinson.
Also thanks to all our members for
all their help, couldn't have done it without you!!
Thank you everyone that attended, it made for a great
show. Hope to see you all again soon!!
