Greetings fellow lakeboat lovers!  I'm Ken Larsen, a model railroader and Great Lakes
industry enthusiast.  I am currently constructing an HO scale model of a steel mill, complete
with blast furnaces and, yes, an ore boat.  The ore boat model, named the "Victoria", is a
fictional model painted in Cleveland-Cliffs livery. You may view pictures of her at:

Even though my current home is in Maryland, a part of me still lives in the Detroit suburb
of Farmington where I grew up.  My father used to take me sailing in his 16-foot "rebel" on
Lake St. Clair every summer weekend during 1966-67, allowing me to see a lot of ship
traffic.  I still can remember the chart on the sail club lounge's wall that showed all of
the different stack markings for the various U.S. and Canadian laker fleets.  I also made
several tours of Ford's River Rouge facility in Dearborn; it was here that I became hooked
on steelmaking.
