Early Stages    Hull Shaping                  

This is my first model Laker the Paterson. I used balsa wood for the sides and plywood for the bottom and the bulkheads. I cut out the ship profile, bulkheads and bottom and attached them together using regular school glue. I used wood filler to hide any marks and lacerations from the knife when I had to bend the profile to match the bow contour. A friend gave me the poster below of the Paterson, from when the ship was launched.
