Building the 1/87 Edmund Fitzgerald

"The Big Fitz" Bow Thruster

I ended up going with the Graupner 400 bow thruster unit, She fit just perfect and is just about the right diameter. I did a test run in the sink with a 6v battery pack. Plenty of power to push the Fitz around. Nothing real special here other then all I did was hooked it up to an old mechanical speed control I had. I will only have one speed in forward and reverse. I chose to keep things simple and cheep here, should work fine.

After the trill runs I decided to hook up a electronic speed control. The mechanical speed control did work fine, but it was either on or off and I didn't like the lack of speed control. Also a 4.8 volt battery was used to cut down on noise.
