Building the 1/87 Edmund Fitzgerald

"The Big Fitz" Dry Dock 4

The Bow and Stern sections get shaped to fit the new center section.

Now that the center section is together I can fit the bow and stern sections to it. I simply carved out the foam to up to the main bulkhead near the beckhouse.

Here you can see it fitted in place. I also cut the bow section on an angle to spread the joint out over a bigger area. The new foam sides will be cut to fit the foam on the bow.

You can see the center section fitted nicely to the bow.

The stern is simply cut flush at the stern bulkhead. Again the foam sides will be cut to fit. With this joint I will be adding additional fiberglass to help strengthen the joint.
