Bow Section

The Bow section will be assembled using the bread and butter technique. If your not familiar with this, it's just as it sounds, a section of hull is laid down then the top surface is glued with another hull section laid on top of the first. The is continued up through each section to the Spar Deck or Forecastle. I simply us 3M adhesive spry to hold the sections together.

1.   First thing is to determine your sections you will need off your plans, then cut each section out to the appropriate height and shape. Note that you should cut them with straight edges. When you glue the together it will look like an upside down set of steps. Later you will sand down the foam to where each of these steps meet.

2.   Once you bow section is glued together, sand the mating surface for a good square fit.

3.   Place the spar deck on to verify things are fitting together correctly.

5.   Once the bow fits like it should, you can then make the bow hull bottom out of plywood.

6.   Here you can see I notched out the bottom 1/8th of an inch for the plywood bottom to drop into. Once it fits good glue it in place with 5 minute epoxy.

7.   Finally you can place the Spar Deck on and sand the top of the bow section to the correct Spar Deck camber.
