Prepping for Paint #1

Well the past month I have been doing the final shaping, fixing my mistakes and prepping for paint. I must say this is the NO FUN stage for me as I hate sanding. This seems to be the most time consuming part, filling, sanding, priming and then more filling, sanding, priming and so on.

1.  As you can see above the center joint area was a bit low near the joint. I had to fill a bit with bond-o to get her back in shape. I kept the center joint together most of the time will shaping this area, this insures a good clean fit.

2.   The stern section I also guessed wrong on. Originally the hull was flat near the prop area. I later found out that the props have little recesses cut away to clear the props. So I had to add 1/2 inch at the stern to accommodate these pockets. I am happy to say I know have an fairly accurate hull.

3.   I have the ballast tank access panel cut out and ready to be fitted with the panel with the ballast pumps. The ballast pump system shown here is from my Edmund Fitzgerald.

4.   Shown here still a lot of prep work to do. Making sure every little dent, bit, corner and everything else is just right before paint.
