Window Frames

More information at Here

I needed to figure out how to building and paint window frames without having to mask off each window. No matter how hard I tried in the past, it just didn't come out right. I needed to make window frames that had depth, yet some how get nice clean fitting windows. The way the real window frames are help my in constructing these frames. Here is a simple solution I can up with.

The idea is to simply slide a piece of paper in the window channel to mask of for painting. I found it easier to paint the interior first, so masking it was a must. The forward windows and paper are slide in from the middle window out and to the aft, each about 3 inches long. The aft windows were done the same as shown in the lower pictures. The aft side windows were also slide in from the center aft, then bent around to slide in the side channels. A little bit of work, but it's much easier then trying to cleaning paint off of windows.

Here you can see how the frames were made. You have the pilot house outer skin, with the outer frame on the out side of the skin. Then you have the inner frame on the inside of the skin, this gives you the gap for the windows to slide in. Then you have the pilot house interior skin covering the inner frame.
